I Believe

Music HighwayThere are three kinds of believers in this world. First, those who believe there is an intelligent Being who designed the universe. Second, those who do not believe in any supernatural creator. And third, those who are not sure they can believe a true God exists.

The numbers two and three above, I find a little difficult to accept. Why? Because of this verse in Romans 1:18-20…..

“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”

That verse carries a lot of weight for all the inhabitants of the earth. Each person who is able to think somewhat rationally is wired to believe in God, the one Maker and Author of all creation.

By using any or all of your five senses – seeing, hearing, smelling, touching and tasting – what is sensed all around you should lead you to know and accept God.

One reason many do not believe ini God is due to emotional pain. I am my family’s historian and as I was gathering genealogical information one day, I learned that distant relatives of my mother were living nearby. When I visited them, they told me they recently had lost their twenty four year old son to a sudden and fatal heart attack. When I asked the mother more about it, she screamed, “There is no God! How can He take my son away from me?!” The subject of God had not been discussed. Her husband told me, privately, she had not yet accepted the loss. I felt her pain.

Most of us Christians know that whatever happens to us does not cause God to no longer exist. We believe He has reasons for what He does. Some of us, however, lose our faith.

Still, life goes on around us. This world, ever since tampered by man’s fall at the dawn of human history, has undergone much grief, pain and suffering often causing more blame against God.

Yet, God has already made a great restitution when He, as the Father, saw His Son, Jesus Christ, die on the cross on mankind’s behalf.

So, with all that in mind, the video song below is sung by all of us who believe God exists. Why? Because of the beauty of creation that is displayed about us every day, because of His presence in our lives everyday, and because of the light of His Word, the Bible, strengthening and encouraging – not damaging or attacking – our hearts.

I Believe

sheet music

I believe for every drop of rain that falls
A flower grows,
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night
A candle glows,
I believe for everyone who goes astray,
Someone will come to show the way,
I believe, yes, I believe.

I believe above the storm the smallest prayer
Will still be heard,
I believe that someone in the great somewhere
Hears every word,
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry,
Or touch a leaf, or see the sky,
Then I know why,
I believe.

Every time I hear a newborn baby cry,
Or touch a leaf, or see the sky,
Then I know why,
I believe.
