On The Radio

Music HighwayIn my previous blog post, God’s Canaries, I wrote on how Christian radio stations that are God-filled and working as the Holy Spirit leads them are very much like canaries. Christian radio stations are singing the tune of proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world.

But they are also very sensitive to the whims of the society each are based in. Some of the policies of these countries have been poisonous to Christian organizations. Many other nations are increasingly applying pressure on Christian radio stations, and other free media, for them to become silent in what they are sharing about God.

These religious radio stations in several countries may be broadcasting one day but find themselves off the airways the next due to new and “socially beneficial” regulations against them. Question: How can this happen so quickly? Answer: Because our adversary, Satan, definitely knows the message they proclaim. He wants to have them all shut down or greatly limited.

The YouTube video below (after alteration of some of the lyrics, of course) is the song many thousands of people have sung and are singing after having converted to Jesus Christ because they heard the gospel in word and in song on Christian radio stations. They were led by the Holy Spirit to Christianity through the efforts of the stations’ DJs.

Please note below that the words that are in between the brackets [   ] and in red, are my suggested concepts and interpretations as to how the adjoining lyrics may be altered in the song and have it relate to the hearing of the gospel message.

Someone found a letter you wrote me on the radio   [The Bible was read on the radio]
And they told the world just how you felt    [The station DJs said we need Jesus Christ]
It must have fallen out of a hole in your old brown overcoat   [We are to dust off and read our unread Bibles]
They never said your name   [The Good News is from Jesus Christ for all of us]
But I knew just who they meant  [God’s word will be heard by those to whom it is meant to hear]
Whoa, oh, oh

45 rpm, Label: Casablanca

I was so surprised and shocked
And I wondered too
If by chance you heard it for yourself
I never told a soul just how
I’ve been feeling over you

But they said it really loud
They said it on the air
On the radio, whoa, oh, oh
On the radio, whoa, oh, oh
On the radio, whoa, oh, oh
On the radio, whoa, oh, oh

Now, now
Don’t it kinda strike you sad when you hear our song  [The DJs understand the world’s plight]
Things are not the same since we broke up last June   [Many have left God; the world conditions are getting worse]
The only thing that I wanna hear is that you love me still  [God still loves us]
And that you think you’ll be comin’ home real soon   [Jesus will soon return to this earth]
Whoa, oh, yeah, yeah

And it kinda made me feel proud when I heard him say
You couldn’t find the words to say it yourself   [The Holy Spirit gives the DJs the words to broadcast]
So now in my heart I know I can say what I really feel

‘Cause they said it really loud
They said it on the air
On the radio, whoa, oh, oh
On the radio, whoa, oh, oh
On the radio, whoa, oh, oh
On the radio, whoa, oh, oh
On the radio

If you think that love isn’t found on the radio   [God’s love is being proclaimed on the radio]
Well tune right in you may find the love you lost
‘Cause now I’m sitting here with the man    [That man is Jesus Christ]
I sent away long ago

‘Cause they said it really loud
They said it on the air
On the radio, whoa, oh, oh
On the radio, whoa, oh, oh
On the radio, whoa, oh, oh
On the radio, whoa, oh, oh
On the radio
