You’re No Good

Music HighwayThere is nothing so sad as seeing a Christian believing that he is worthless.

It is even worse hearing teachers and preachers telling Christians that, inside themselves, they are evil because of their hearts supposedly being deceitful and wicked.

I believe that it is wrong for any pastor, preacher or teacher telling their congregations that their hearts are wicked misapplying Jeremiah 17:9 and Matthew 15:19 to them.

Christians, we are a new creation in Jesus Christ! And we have been given a new heart along with it (Ezekiel 36:26)! Our old, evil hearts made of stone was not transplanted when we became converted to sainthood.

We have hearts of gold! And God is love! God’s character is found in His law – summarized as love. And that law of love is written on our hearts – our new hearts – that He gave us! (Hebrews 8:10)

Granted, righteousness without God is self-righteousness. Trying to become righteous by just following laws, rules or traditions, of and by themselves, is walking in legalism. Following God’s way of love, however, because we are His temple, is walking by grace. We are precious in God’s sight, not worthless.

Therefore, do not, I’m gonna say it again, do not let anyone or any teaching have you believing that, “because you have an evil heart”, you are nothing but a totally depraved, no-good sinner in God’s eyes. No one. That is not true.

You are His child. And as God’s children, if we sin, He lovingly (according to His will, timing, and mercy) will correct or discipline us because He cares for us. He will not hate us, not abandon us, nor disdain us. As Jesus Christ resides within us and we walk with Him, we are righteous in God’s sight – always – I’m gonna say it again – always – before Him. This is so true, especially as we admit our mistakes, our errors, our shortcomings as loving, precious children do when they confess their misdeeds to their wonderful dads.

So, do not listen to anyone’s “song” about you, a Christian, being no good because of a supposedly evil heart, such as the video song below is used by some Christians wrongly against other Christians.

Single

You’re no good
You’re no good
You’re no good
Baby you’re no good

I’m gonna say it again
You’re no good
You’re no good
You’re no good
Baby you’re no good

I broke a heart that’s gentle and true
Well I broke a heart over someone like you
I’ll beg his forgiveness on bended knee
imageI wouldn’t blame him if he said to me

You’re no good
You’re no good
You’re no good
Baby you’re no good

I’m gonna say it again
You’re no good
You’re no good
You’re no good
Baby you’re no good

Album

I’m telling you now baby and I’m going my way
Forget about you baby ’cause I’m leaving to stay

You’re no good
You’re no good
You’re no good
Baby you’re no good

I’m gonna say it again
You’re no good
You’re no good
You’re no good
Baby you’re no good

Oh, oh no
You’re no good
You’re no good
You’re no good
Baby you’re no good
