Every Praise

Music HighwayA few days ago, at a church worship service, a song was sung by the congregation that I did not know. Other songs had been sung already, but that song caught my attention. It was a song that I immediately loved!

As I was hearing it, I turned to the person next to me and asked, “Do you know the name of this song?” He said, “Sure, it is ‘Every Praise.’ ” Then he mentioned that it is a big hit in YouTube. Really? How did he get to know this song?

If it were sung before by the congregation, I did not remember it. Why?

I have attended services in this church for over five years and I do not remember singing this song with the church.  Again, if they sang it, why did I NOT remember it?

If I were the worship leader of this church (I used to be one with a smaller sized church congregation), I probably would do things differently. But it is not my place to give that sort of feedback to their worship team. I do not sense God telling me to offer “constructive” suggestions directly to them.  My critique may not be beneficial to this church. And, and, AND and, it may not be according to God’s will.

Anyway, for those of you curious, what are these suggestions? That will be a topic for a future blog for any Christian church that is interested.

Now let me ask you this question: Should my every praise be to God?

Is it improper to praise my wife for cooking a fine dinner? I thought about this further and concluded that if I praise my wife for what she does for our household, that would praise God.

Every praise is to our God.

Is it idolatry to praise a fellow Christian brother for helping you through a rough situation? Is only compliments to be given him? No, I believe praising him honors God.

Every praise is to our God.

You may be thinking I am getting picky or silly here, but is this kind of thinking going against the kingdom of God? If I were to praise all those who risked their lives as soldiers abroad defending our freedoms we enjoy, would that be wrong? No, praising them by extending salutations of thanksgiving to them will not offend God. Instead, it also praises Him. Therefore. . .

Every praise is to our God.

You may or may not have caught my drift (my point). But, I am not stating that any praise we may give to others is substituting people for God. We are not to worship people as if they were gods. Even when we acknowledge the praiseworthy efforts of our brothers and sisters around us, all praise and honor goes to God. In other words, it is all about loving them which also shows that we love God. This sounds like I’m contradicting myself, doesn’t it?

Enough of my heresy you say? Okay, I hear ya. Anyway, enjoy this beautiful worship song and its video which has had more than 12 million viewers on YouTube.

Is there a story behind this video? Was this Hezekiah Walker’s church and praise team enjoying an outdoor worship service? It was well done. The brass section of this song was just phenomenal!

However you see and hear this song, praise be to God!

Every praise is to our God.
Every word of worship with one accord
Every praise, every praise is to our God.
Sing hallelujah to our God
Glory hallelujah is due our God
Every praise, every praise is to our God.

Every praise is to our God.
Every word of worship with one accord
Every praise, every praise is to our God.
Sing hallelujah to our God
Glory hallelujah is due our God
Every praise, every praise is to our God.

Every praise is to our God.
Every word of worship with one accord
Every praise, every praise is to our God.
Sing hallelujah to our God
Glory hallelujah is due our God
Every praise, every praise is to our God.

God my Savior
God my Healer
God my Deliverer
Yes He is, yes He is

God my Savior
God my Healer
God my Deliverer
Yes He is, yes He is

God my Savior
God my Healer
God my Deliverer
Yes He is, yes He is,
Yes He is, yes He is.

Every praise is to our God.
Every word of worship with one accord
Every praise, every praise, every praise, every praise
Every praise, every praise, all of my worship, all of my praise
When you see me dancing, every praise
When you see me shouting, every praise
Every praise, every praise, is to our God.

 – short interlude –

Every praise is to our God.
Every word of worship with one accord
Every praise, every praise, every praise, every praise
Every praise, every praise, all of my worship, every praise
When you see me dancing, every praise, every praise, every praise . . .
