We Didn’t Start The Fire

Music HighwayMany people today, for the most part, see some value in studying history. But many others just want to live for the moment and continue living their lives with little regard to their country’s decisions for their future generations and livelihood.

Why study history if not to learn the lessons that previous generations were forced to learn at one time or another? Why not gain understanding in this area in order to prevent future repetitions of terrible events from ever igniting again?

Why not study how and why previous prominent cultures initially became strong, innovative societies which later progressively became weak, lethargic or aggressively an enemy of surrounding nations?

What led to the demise of influential countries? Many historians and philosophers ponder this and understand the reasons, but few take heed of the signs or choose to forget.

As philosopher George Santayana said, “If we do not learn the lessons of history we will be condemned to repeat them.”

That is why education in this area by reading, studying and seeking comprehension of the causes and effects of government decisions, scientific inventions and innovations are very important. And here is another history lesson: Man has historically proven he prefers expedience rather than ethics and morals that actually are best revealed by God as the source for true knowledge and true wisdom.

Therefore, I cannot overemphasize to you the importance of reading and studying the Bible to learn what God has to say about the purpose of man and why God is so interested in him. Studying the Bible goes hand in hand with the study of human history.

Knowing God and His interaction with countries, especially, for example, the nation of ancient Israel, will greatly broaden your understanding as to why the world is the way it is. Meditating on how God associated Himself with anceint Israel will give you insight on how He is interacting with modern Israel today AND how He will reestablish the future people of Israel to bless the entirety of the world after Jesus Christ returns. God is indeed interested in the world and He has chosen to reach it through Israel. It is unfortunate that some of you will never accept that in this age.

imageAs I briefly mentioned in the previous post, 100 People Who Changed The World, the Bible points to the garden of Eden several millennia ago for the ignition of the fire of pain, suffering, evil and death onto the world’s stage. Since then, the flames of evil events have been stoked by all subsequent generations without exception.

Is mankind to blame for starting the firestorms that continuously rage around the world? Here is a homework group assignment: Who is the cause of man’s evils we see today? Who started the fire? Was it Satan or was it man?  Did Satan strike the match of destruction by deceiving Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden bringing pain and death into the world? Who is the arson?

Here are three points to consider:
One, Satan has not been kept apart from mankind. He still deceives. His demons still cause havoc and much spiritual confusion and even some physical and psychological maladities.

Two, mankind has continued choosing the ways of evil. Because of his choices, mankind is ultimately responsible for continuing and refueling the fires of pain, greed. war and destruction throughout history.

Point three, when Jesus Christ came onto the scene He did not insist that Satan and his demons repent. Instead, Christ came for man to repent of his sins, to believe on Him and be saved from the death that has been unleashed onto the world since Adam and Eve. Why did Christ do this? One hint is found in Hebrews 2:5-11.

imageAt this time, Christ is not now fully in the business of preventing or putting out tragic fires only to see man start another one.

Jesus Christ is not the fireman for the entire world at the present time. Sin, crime, death, wars and rumors of wars will continue being around for a short while longer. But one day, after He returns, He will put out the raging inferno. Jesus came and is alive today in order to one day extinguish the world’s firestorms and bring peace and salvation to the entirety of the world.

So, let me repeat the homework assignment: Who started the fire? Did we start the fire or was it Satan? Who started it? What did you say?!!!! You think evolution started it? If so, why is the world’s inhabitants seemingly (I believe this) on a course toward complete extermination? There will be no survivor of the fittest unless God intervenes (Matthew 24:21-22).

The two YouTube videos below claim we did not start the fire. They insist the fire was “always burning since the world’s been turning.” What do you think?
