My Lips Will Praise You

Music HighwayAs the new year 2017 begins, I cannot help but post this Christian song by Twila Paris entitled, My Lips will Praise You. I had another song in mind for today, but decided to post it next week.

I first heard this song while listening to Christian radio station, WIHS 104.9 FM, where I daily receive “inspiration and information” (one of the station’s clichés). The song became more and more beautiful the more I heard it.

Why am I inspired by this song? Because it comes across to me as a Bible Psalm put to music. I can easily picture David as a shepherd boy singing a song like this while playing his harp. I can easily imagine David as king over Israel worshiping and praising God in the temple with the words of a song such as this one.

As I hear it, I can also  imagine all of the new psalms that David (and other composers) will sing before the throne of Jesus Christ after He returns.  All the heavenly hosts, the choir of angels, and all the saints will be accompanying him.

Angels with trumpets

The Angelic Revelation Band (Rev. 8:6)

I have a question for you: Do you think there will be musical instruments used before God in the next life? Don’t get me wrong. I do not mind a cappella singing by solo artists or choirs which is singing without instrumental accompaniment.  But there could be musical instruments in heaven already. I mean, is not God surrounded with trumpet music in heaven? Was the trumpet designed just for sirens of alarm? I do not think so.

There is so much beauty that instruments add to songs. Maybe new ones will be made by the hand of God to be used for worship. Or something totally new will be introduced. We will just have to wait and see (and hear).

Nevertheless, when Christ returns, all will be new. New beginnings will there be and will continue to be without end.  Newly resurrected faces of those from centuries gone by will be introducing themselves to one another and praising God and singing, yes singing, new songs such as this one.

New inspiring scenery will be all around us. Mankind’s ugly graffiti of hatred, violence and war will all be gone. New horizons will never cease to appear. The Light of Glory will ever shine (Rev. 21:23).  New sounds of laughter will ever flow.

New things unimaginable will thrill us with surprise and joy. New excitements and new anticipations will ensue.

Let us make this new year, 2017, a year where we meditate more on the things of God and how much He loves us. And let our lips always be praising Him.

I am Your own
And I will worship You alone
I am Your own
I am Your child
I am Your own
And I will worship at Your throne
I am Your own
And I will love You

My lips will praise You
For You are holy
My voice will ever
Rise before Your throne
My heart will love You
For You are lovely
And You have called me
To become Your own
And You have called me
To become Your own
