Turn The Beat Around

Music HighwayA few weeks ago, I posted my thoughts on how, after many years since Christ died and rose again, after 2,000 years, life around us keeps going on the same as usual. Click on The Beat Goes On.

People are still hating others, still killing one another, and still being decimated by disease, poverty, and sin. Many people ask, “Well, if God is so good, why has He not come back and fixed all these problems”? Why does the beat go on?

Much of the world has just completed celebrating the Christmas and New Year’s festivities. Another season of repeated memorials of little baby Jesus being born in a manger and the Magi (like Santa Claus) coming to town has gone by. Has mankind improved its nature for the better because of these holidays? Nope. Overall, has society changed its ways of evil and animosity against itself? No. So why don’t I stop lamenting and complaining how the world’s beat goes on and let it go at that?

We Christians know all too well that life’s aches and pains, its turmoil and violence keep going on. We sigh at the hatred, the suffering and the wickedness still grinding on all around us. Must we continue obsessively reminding ourselves of all this?

Well, Christ told us to go out into the world and proclaim glad tidings – not “that’s life folks” declarations; not “que sera, sera” pronouncements.

Instead of singing with a percussion beat of darkness, sadness and pain, we can turn the beat around! We can be singing to the beat of the gospel and dancing to the rhythm of good news, rather than singing along to the pounding drums of doom and gloom.

Sing out – Jesus Christ is risen!

Turn the beat around.

Proclaim – Jesus is soon retuning and His kingdom will soon be officially established for all to see!

Turn the beat around.

Praise God with joy! Stay away from the drummers of consternation often heard from most of the news media and others.

Turn it upside down. (Acts 17:6 NKJV)

Declare that all we now see, hear and know will all dramatically change.

Turn the beat around.

Again, instead of dancing to the tune of Satan and of the world, let us sing and dance to the rhythm beat of the gospel!

Let us now replace this world’s beat of doubt with the exciting sound of anticipation by us believers in Jesus Christ.

Turn the beat around.

Turn the beat around

Vinyl 45 rpm

Blow horns you sure sound pretty
Your violins keep movin’ to the nitty gritty
When you hear the scratch of the guitars scratchin’
Then you’ll know that rhythm carries all the action
Woah

Turn the beat around (turn it around)
Love to hear percussion (yeah yeah yeah)
Turn it upside down
Love to hear percussion
Love to hear it (got to hear it)

Turn the beat around
Love to hear percussion
Turn it upside down (hey yeah)
Love to hear percussion
Woah
Love to hear it

Flute player play your flute ’cause
I know that you want to get your thing off
But you see I’ve made up my mind about it
It’s got to be the rhythm, no doubt about it, woah woah
‘Cause when the guitar player start playing
With the syncopated rhythm,
With the scratch, scratch, scratch
Makes me want to move my body yeah, yeah, yeah
And when the drummer starts beating that beat
He nails that beat with the syncopated rhythm
With the rat, tat, tat, tat, tat, tat on the drums, hey

Turn the beat around (I’m talking about the beat)
Love to hear percussion
Turn it upside down
Love to hear percussion (love to hear the beat now)
Love to hear it
Love to hear it
Love to hear it
Love to hear it

(solo bongo drums)

Turn the beat around
Love to hear percussion
Yeah
Turn it upside down
Love to hear percussion

Woah
Love to hear it
Turn the beat around, ooh
Love to hear percussion (got to hear it)
Turn it upside down
Love to hear percussion
Turn the beat around
Love to hear percussion (love to hear it)
Turn it upside down
Love to hear percussion
Turn the beat around
