The End Of The World

Music HighwayOf all the living creatures God has created, human beings are by far unique. Humans are the only beings that are self-conscious. Man is the only being who philosophically shares with others how he believes the human race fits in the affairs of the universe and beyond.

When Adam and Eve were created, they did not have to ask, “What is the meaning of life?” Or, “Why were we created?” But, even in their pre-fallen state, that second question, I believe, would have been a fantastic question to have asked God in person. Perhaps they did ask Him that question.

So, why did God create Adam and Eve? That indeed is not only a theological question but also a philosophical one. Why did God create them? That question I will one day ask God. I am very curious how He will answer.

Flaming Sword

The flaming sword in the midst of the garden of Eden was  replaced with the two-edged sword, the Bible and Jesus Christ, both which mankind naturally rejects.

Everything around Adam and Eve that was created was “tailor made” to revolve around and physiologically support them and their progeny. God purposely designed their home and “furniture” on earth for them to be able to exist forever.

But once Adam and Eve sinned, they were then physically and spiritually set apart from God and His source for true knowledge and eternal life. Note: The flaming sword in Genesis 3:24 could symbolize God’s presence no longer available to them as before. God put them out where they basically were left on their own to ponder what had happened to them.

Did God despise Adam and Eve for sinning? No. It was not the end of the world for them. Why? God has never really rejected them or mankind. He sent Jesus Christ to the world to reconcile man to God. He also left mankind His written word. Again I must ask, why? One answer can be because God loves His creation. It has much to do with love.

Yet, after thousands of years, much of recorded history is a sad witness of God being rejected – not God rejecting man. Western society, for example, has heard of Christ in their institutions of higher education, but mock Him in favor of humanism, existentialism, agnosticism, and atheism.

imageBecause of this, it very much appears that man cannot help be philosophical. Even the teaching that God does not exist is just that – a philosophy.

Until now, mankind has been removing himself from theology (the study of God) which leaves him asking, almost in desperation, “why is the world the way it is?”

* Mankind needs God and His love.

* Mankind needs to know that this world is not coming to a completely destructive end – life will continue to exist because God is so much about life.

* Mankind needs to know that Jesus Christ died for their sins. That God still loves them.

* Mankind needs to know that Jesus Christ who –  as a man on earth – died, rose again, ascended into heaven, and is coming back as the most benevolent ruler to ever rule this earth. And because He is immortal, eternal, His rule, His kingdom, will last forever.

Until that time when Jesus Christ arrives, mankind can only sing the words, why? about the things, the thoughts, and the trends occurring all around him.

The video song below is about a relationship that badly ended which left the singer asking questions about the meaning of life as it relates to her. This song indeed shows how, in many ways, mankind is a very philosophical being whose world would seem to come to an end when the love on earth he needs is turned off.

Why does the sun go on shining
Why does the sea rush to shore
Don’t they know it’s the end of the world
Cause you don’t love me anymore

Vinyl 45 rpm

Vinyl 45 rpm

Why do the birds go on singing
Why do the stars glow above
Don’t they know it’s the end of the world
It ended when I lost your love

I wake up in the morning and I wonder
Why everything’s the same as it was
I can’t understand no I can’t understand
How life goes on the way it does

Why does my heart go on beating
Why do these eyes of mine cry
Don’t they know it’s the end of the world
It ended when you said goodbye

Album (1963)

Why does my heart go on beating
Why do these eyes of mine cry

Don’t they know it’s the end of the world
It ended when you said goodbye
