We Will Rock You

Music HighwayA few weeks ago, I posted on how the Christian worship portion of church services held every week are not rock concerts. In other words, they should not, in my opinion,  have an atmosphere where the church congregation is overshadowed by songs loudly sung and played by worship leaders and music artists. The result, especially of the contemporary style of praise services, would heavily be focused on the singers and their bands rather than on the worshiping saints. Please click on Tips For Worship Leaders
for your review.

However, Jesus Christ, as most of us know, is our
Rock and our Salvation. And Jesus told His
disciples to go out and preach the gospel and
make disciples from among the nations.(Matthew 28:19).

Therefore, with that in mind, because we are proclaiming
and singing the gospel, we Christians, in a manner of
speaking, are “Rock artists”!

Let me explain.

David flung a rock felt around the world.

When Goliath challenged Israel’s army for someone to come forward and fight to the death, David responded. What did David do? He gathered up five stones (rocks) and used one – he only needed one – that, from his sling,  killed Goliath (1 Samuel 17:40-49).

That one rock, I believe, symbolizes Jesus Christ. And Goliath, I believe, pictures the world. Similarly, one day Jesus Christ is coming back and strike a death blow to this world’s system with its evil lifestyles. This whole world’s ways will be rocked off its very, ungodly foundation!

We Christians, however, are no match for Satan’s
devices, no match for this world’s anti-God current
of beliefs, and often no match for even our own sinful
pulls of the flesh.

But, Jesus Christ in us, through the power of the Holy
Spirit, deals with our sins. Jesus Christ, the Rock of Ages,
is our Savior. We look to Him, seek Him, and ever-humbly
depend on His blood once shed on the cross for us.

Daniel 2

In the book of Daniel, we see the image of gold, silver, brass and iron being struck at its feet made of iron and clay. The whole image toppled because of a Rock that struck it. What does this all mean?

It means, again, that one day, Jesus Christ, the Solid Rock, will  “Rock” the world!

And as we witness Christ, we ourselves are now rocking the world with the gospel. We are proclaiming Jesus as the One who will make all that is evil in this world be done way. We are shouting, in many ways, His name and how the earth will one day be at peace – finally, forever. Because of Him, the whole universe, the whole creation, will soon completely behold His glory!

So, Christians, ROCK ON! Let us continue to perform “Rock concerts” to the world – not to each other. Let us be the Davids of this world broadcasting in any way, manner or form (the slings) the message of Good News. Let us continue telling the world Who we believe, why we believe Him, and how what He has done for us, He can do for others. We do not have to come across as arrogant, brash or “in-your-face” as the YouTube video below does. Just let us, with love, be joyful and sing the gospel. Rock the world with Jesus Christ!
