Hold On, I’m Comin’

Christians throughout the ages have never known exactly when Jesus would return to this world to straighten it out. God wants it this way (Matt. 24:36). But, there have been periods of time when persecution against the church was so intense Christians thought the end was very near at hand – in their lifetime.

Many, for example, saw revivals of the Roman Empire with all of its wars and conquests and believed the end was
just around the corner. But the end was not
yet (Matt. 24:6). The Comforter, the Holy
Spirit, however, gave them the strength they
needed to endure.

So, Christ has yet to return. Why not? The
reason is obvious to many, if not to most of you.
New disciples for Christ had to be made just
as Jesus commanded us to do (Matt. 28:19).

If Christ had returned centuries ago, who
knows if you or I ever would have been born and
called. We would never have been aware of what
we know now.

Four Horsemen of Revelation

Nevertheless, times are indeed becoming increasingly difficult and frightening for Christians around the world. More and more weapons of mass destruction are being brandished by dictators and some crackpot “leaders” of nations.

The idolatry of materialism is on the rise around the world also which has significantly influenced the Christian faith in many parts of Europe and other nations in the west.

Many Christians see natural disasters
intensifying. Strong hurricanes with
tremendous winds hardly ever seen before
are churning the seas and carving through
heavily populated land masses.

Earthquakes and tsunamis are making their presence known at the same time. Imminent wars and human atrocities are mounting. Many are wondering if this is the end. This is causing many Christians asking if all will be over.

Many read the sequence of end-time events found in the Book of Revelation but has not yet occurred or not start fast enough as they understand it. That is the point. What you read in Revelation and in the book of Daniel may not run their course as you imagine it to occur. It may all be symbolic language that may be fulfilled astonishingly quick. It may all happen breathtakingly fast.

I do not know, of course, when and how it will all transpire in the end since I am not a prophet. But Jesus did say that you will see signs that indicate His soon return. We all will know. We will not need to second guess what is happening. I believe God will all let it be known in His way and on His day. In the meantime, we are not to trust anyone telling us Christ has already returned without you knowing it beforehand (Matt. 24:23).

When these final horrific events begin to occur, look to Christ. He may provide you guidelines, a way you can proceed safely. Your days of proclaiming the gospel may then be over right before Christ returns. Your emotions and anticipation will be at a high level. You will know that it will be just a matter of moments when this age turns over to Christ.

If God is your High Tower, then climb to the top of it and always be on the lookout. How do you get to the top of this Tower? Let me meditate on this and get back to you in a future post, Lord willing.

As events unfold and become increasingly furious, you just may ask why is it taking so long  for Christ’s return?  Jesse repeatedly has told us in His Word to overcome until He returns. He has told us that He is coming. So hang on for a little while longer.

Again, these are just my thoughts on this matter. But, be rest assured that we will see Jesus Christ coming one day descending from the clouds to gather us home.

In the meantime, what Jesus Christ is telling us now is: “Hold On, I’m Coming”.

Don’t you ever be sad
Lean on me when times are bad
When the day comes and you are down
In a river of trouble and about to drown

Just hold on, I’m comin’
Hold on, I’m comin’

I’m on my way, your lover
If you get cold, yeah, I will be your cover
Don’t have to worry, ’cause I’m here
No need to suffer, baby, cause I’m near

Just hold on, I’m comin’
Hold on, I’m comin’
Hold on, I’m comin’
Hold on, I’m comin’

Looky here
Reach out to me
For satisfaction, yeah
Looky here, Dave, that’s all she got to do
Call my name, yeah, for quick reaction
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Now don’t you ever be sad
Lean on me when the times are bad
When the day comes and you are down, baby
In a river of trouble and about to drown

Just hold on, I’m comin’
Hold on, I’m comin’

Just hold on
Don’t you worry
I’m comin’
Here we come
Hold on
We’re about to save you
I’m comin’

Hold on
Don’t you worry
I’m comin’
Here I come
