10 Bible Verses That Can Change Your Life (part 35)

lighthouseFor those of you who have studied the Bible for several years, no matter how often you read a particular verse, oftentimes a new understanding of it will suddenly light up at you as if it were new!

Last year, there were verses that for years I have been familiar that all of a sudden took on a whole new dimension when I began writing about them.

If you are a new Christian or a person who
does not know yet what the Bible is all about,
I pray that the verses below will cause you to
start thinking differently about yourself and the
world you live in.

On the other hand, chances are you are now beginning to study the Bible. If so, I believe it will be a Supreme Being, the Great God, who will be communicating to you mostly through your thoughts.

Below are ten more Bible verses added from “10 Bible Verses That Can Change Your Life (part 34)” that have changed my life and other people’s lives as well. These verses have been doing this throughout the centuries. I am sure you long-time students of the Bible can think of other verses that are also life-changing.

Rampart of the city of Morocco.

341)  Psalms 48:13

Consider well her ramparts,
view her citadels,
that you may tell of them
to the next generation.

In the national anthem of the United States there is a line that goes: “O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming.” What are ramparts? A definition I found for rampart  is:

A fortification, a defensive wall or bank around a castle, fort or settlement.

Consider the ramparts of your city. What is protecting your city from danger? The town where I live is close to the river, so the city decided years ago to build levies to protect the city from floods overflowing its banks.

Every living thing has ramparts. Consider the basic living cell that is part of all living things. It has a cell wall that holds the contents of the cell in place and protects it from intruders.

So it is with you, if you consider God to be your wall of protection, your Rampart, He will hold your life together. He will give it meaning, purpose and yes, protection – according to His will. Having that security and peace of mind in your everyday living will change your life.

342)  Psalms 67:1-2

May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face shine on us
so that your ways may be known on earth,
your salvation among all nations.

Why would God want to bless you? Why does He want to provide for you, care for you, and even give you skills that would help others as you help yourself? Answer: Because God wants you to know Him and His ways. He wants His gospel proclaimed to the nations. God is a gracious God. And He, yes He, is a merciful God, very merciful. He is a very giving God.

The blessings that you have – yes, you have – are easily evident if only you look at your life. It may not seem evident, but they are there. You may say that your life has been nothing but one failure after another, but if you read and study verses such as these, brother (or sister), it will change your attitude and your life!

The ark of the covenant at the Battle of Jericho.

343)  1 Chronicles 13:14

The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household and everything he had.

The ark of the covenant mentioned in the Bible has a lot of imagery for anyone studying about it. Basically, it symbolizes Jesus Christ and His work for mankind. The family of Obed-Edom were blessed because they housed it in their property for three months. How were they blessed? The Bible doesn’t say! But because they helped king David by storing and sheltering it temporarily, they became renowned over all Israel and for all time.

If you, my friend, accept (house) Jesus Christ as your Friend, Lord, and Savior; if you keep your eyes on Him, you will indeed be blessed far above your wildest dreams. Your life will change toward glorious proportions forever and ever because of Him.

344)  Ezra 7:10

For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the Lord, and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel.

Ezra devoted much time – if not all of his life – to studying the Law of the Old Covenant. Why? To apply them to those he was serving.

What if you dedicated yourself to studying the Bible – especially the New Covenant – and observe what Jesus Christ commanded His followers to do? If you do not know, ask Him and find out. Dedicate your life to Christ and soon you will notice a change in your life!

345)  Nehemiah 8:10

Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

A national tradition the United States and several other countries have is a day that was originally established as a day of thanks to the Giver of blessings. It was set aside to recognize how God has blessed its citizens.

How has God blessed – yes, blessed – you? You may quickly respond, “In no manner has He blessed me.” OK,  but because you are reading this, it may be an indication that God wants you to live with Him at a more intimate level. Knowing, walking and growing alongside Him will greatly change your life! I offer up a prayer to God for you, my friend. I offer a prayer for you.

For the beauty of the earth

346)  Psalms 24:1

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;

Everywhere you turn, you see some evidence of people who have left God out of their lives. For example, He is not taught in public schools. Prime time TV rarely remind us of Him. And surely most of the national news media do not honor Him.

Why should anyone even think about Him? Answer: Because it was He who brought everything into existence.

You, yes you, are right now aware of your surroundings; you are conscious of yourself as an entity apart from other living entities who think and live differently from you. You are always cognizant of being alive within your flesh and bones. Where did all of this awareness of yourself come from? Answer: God.

If you acknowledge that there is a God and that He has created you and you, yes you, then begin to understand why He created you, it will change your life!

347)  Psalms 81:10

I am the Lord your God,
who brought you up out of Egypt.
Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.

One thing (of many) that God loves to do is feed those who hunger for Him. At this time of the year, Thanksgiving (in the US and elsewhere), many of us are grateful for all of the blessings He has provided us and how He has given us the ability to digest and use His teachings about His way of life.

Being open-minded to be fed the spiritual food of Jesus Christ is the best thing anyone can do in his lifetime. There are several verses in the book of Psalms that absolutely point to Christ and how He will nourish you for a better life you have ever known.

348)   Psalms 105:1

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
make known among the nations what he has done.

How can you praise God if you do not know Him? Here is something to think about. If you get to know this God, know that He exists, know that He is alive, know that He wants to be a part of your life, once you have a relationship with Him, He will cause you to automatically praise Him! Why? Because soon you will realize that He wants to do wonderful things in your life! Therefore, get to know and praise Him!

349)   Psalms 106:15

So he gave them what they asked for,
but sent a wasting disease among them.

Several celebrities of the silver screen, the movie jet-set establishment, are being exposed for who they really are. The idol and star-worshippers toward those in Hollywood are stunned as to what is happening.

Why has this occurred? The reason is because many in that industry have rejected God and His way of life.

HIV and other STDs run rampant in our society today. Also, several diseases of the mind – anxiety, depression and despair have increasingly taken over many lives – especially among the stars of theater, movies and television. Yes, God has sent them trials. A lot of them are the fruit of their attitudes and actions.

If you are seeing yourself as having been apart from God, you now have the opportunity, at this time, to change your animosity against God and His ways to one of concern and interaction to the One who wants to give you success.

350)   Psalms 118:1

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

Do not listen to the words of those who hate God and want nothing to do with Him. You know deep within yourself, in your heart, that God has been with you and has done beautiful things for you. You know deep within your heart that He has been good to you. Even some of your difficult moments you have experienced were a blessing to you because they have opened your eyes to what God wants you to see regarding your life and Him.

No matter what you are feeling about God at this moment, you can be assured that all He wants is to reveal and show you that He loves you. Once you understand this, it will change your life.
